Nepes Rua, a subsidiary-type standard workplace established to promote employment for persons with disabilities, was recognized as an “Outstanding Employer of Artists with Disabilities” on November 21 at the 2025 Performance Sharing Conference for Customized Job Support for Artists with Disabilities, hosted by the Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center. The event was held at the Modu Art Theater in Jung-gu, Seoul, featuring a celebratory performance by artists with disabilities, an award ceremony for outstanding employers, and presentations of best practices.
This recognition highlights Nepes Rua’s efforts to expand employment opportunities for artists with disabilities and build a cultural arts job model through the operation of the Rua Orchestra, which was officially acknowledged as an exemplary case.
The Customized Job Support Program for Artists with Disabilities is a national initiative launched in 2021 to ensure stable creative activities and broaden employment opportunities for artists with disabilities. Among these efforts, Nepes Rua’s corporate orchestra model stood out as a leading example.
Over the past three years, Nepes Rua has organized more than 200 performances at Nepes’ main business sites, local government offices, special schools, youth centers, welfare institutions, and educational facilities. These activities have provided a sustainable platform for artists with disabilities to develop professional skills and maintain continuous engagement. Additionally, Nepes Rua has refined its internal systems—such as performance planning, rehearsal operations, and work support structures—to strengthen job competencies and improve accessibility to the arts.
The Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center commented:
“Nepes Rua’s corporate-led orchestra has successfully established a foundation for continuous activity by artists with disabilities and achieved meaningful results in enhancing professionalism. It is regarded as one of the best employment models for artists with disabilities among private companies.”
During the best-practice presentation session, Nepes Rua shared its corporate orchestra operation framework, strategies for securing employment stability, and achievements in community performances. The company also emphasized the social value of art-based employment models for persons with disabilities and the cultural employment structure led by corporations, while introducing Nepes’ people-centered corporate culture aligned with ESG management—drawing significant attention.
Building on this award, Nepes Rua plans to expand orchestra performances and cultural arts programs in 2026, encouraging participation from employees, families, and local communities. The company also aims to continue collaborative activities such as disability awareness education, performances linked to youth and welfare institutions, and ESG-based social contribution projects.
A Nepes Rua representative stated:
“We will continue to fulfill our corporate responsibility to support the stable growth of artists with disabilities. Through ongoing collaboration with various organizations, we aim to create sustainable jobs and promote cultural engagement in local communities, centered around the orchestra.”
